Step Community Volunteering
Take the Next Step
As Christians, we are in constant motion in our faith journeys. The goal of Step Ministry is to respond to the call of making disciples for Christ, both within our church walls and in our community.
Our ministries are both long and short term, and they include:
- Midland First UMC has adopted Hintz Park, we gather four times/year with Maple Grove residents to tidy up the park. We are prayerfully considering more opportunities to reach out to the residents of Maple Grove Mobile Home Community, with a special focus on the children.
- Carpenter School Community Garden. FUMC folks and Central Park staff meet to weed and water the garden. When the fruits of the garden are ripe, neighborhood residents are welcome to come and harvest.
- On the first Sunday of November, Step sponsors a Community Leaf Raking. We rake for church members, also referrals received from Habitat for Humanity. We also focus on the Central Park neighborhood and rake for neighbors we have not yet met.
- Random Acts of Kindness Baskets were beautifully stocked and delivered to employees of six different nursing homes on Christmas Eve. We included a basket for both the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day shifts and it was our privilege to share the Light of Christ with those employees.
Come and take the next Step in your Faith Journey. Step Ministry is ready to reach out to Midland First UMC and to our neighbors in our community. All who are interested, contact the church office, office@fumcmid.org.
