The Midland Area CROP Hunger Walk has been a staple in the Midland Community for the last 50 years! In fact, it is one of the longest running fundraising walks in the Midland area. Over the past 49 years, Midlander’s have raised well over $1.25 million dollars of which 25% of these funds have remained in the Midland Area to help fight hunger. The Midland Area agencies who benefit from these funds are:

  • Midland County Emergency Food Pantry
  • Midland’s Open Door
  • The Salvation Army Food Program.

The remaining funds are distributed through Church World Service (CWS) who provide emergency assistance to people worldwide. CWS helped Midland County when the dams broke in 2021 by providing necessary cleaning and hygiene supplies to those in need.
This year the Midland Area CROP walk is celebrating its 50th Anniversary and First United Methodist Church will again be supporting this walk. The walk will begin and end at the Farmer’s Market Plaza at the foot of Ashman Street. Prior to the walk’s official start at 2 p.m., everyone is welcome to join in pre-walk fun, games, and activities starting at 12:30 p.m. Bring a picnic lunch and your walking shoes to kick-off this golden celebration.
Online registration and donations are preferred but not required. If you prefer to donate by check, please make the check out to CWS/CROP with First UMC in the memo line and mail it into the church office. Also Check or Cash donations can be dropped off at the church office.
