Windows to the Soul

When Alden B. Dow designed First United Methodist Church in the late 1940s, small squares of colored glass were added to the large windows around the Sanctuary and other areas of the church. These squares were to contain symbols of the Christian faith as memorials and honorariums. Over the years almost two hundred window designs have been created.

The entire collection of the windows at Midland First United Methodist Church has been captured in a book titled, “Windows to the Soul.” This book is an 88-page, hardbound, full-color book developed by FUMC members, and gives valuable background information on all the windows and their dedications. If you are interested in a copy of this book, it is available for purchase for $20. Please the church office Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm for information 989.835.6797.
